Erin Piper

1.) Tell us about your profession?

I’m a Neuropsychologist. I work in outpatient rehabilitation with people who’ve had traumatic and acquired brain injuries.

2.) You can go to any concert of any artist (dead or alive) which one would you go to?

I love music- there are too many artists to choose from! I recently went to a Needtobreathe concert and it was the best concert I’ve ever been to- wouldn’t mind seeing them again!

3.) What is one interesting fact about you? 

I’m addicted to peanut butter. Crunchy, creamy, I don’t discriminate. It’s a (good) problem.

4.) What personal goal motivated you to start CrossFit? 

Just wanted to get in better shape and challenge myself a little more, along with connect with new people. Crossfit has definitely served that purpose for me!

5.) What does a day in your life look like outside of being an awesome Crossfitter?

Probably working too much. Other than work, I like to hike, kickbox, and spend time with friends.

Eric Melbostad

1.) Tell us about your profession?

I work for a general contracting construction company (CORE Construction). Just got back to Arizona from building an apartment complex on the University of Oklahoma’s campus where I was responsible for both project management/financial tasks and superintendent/field-related tasks.

2.) You can go to any concert of any artist (dead or alive) which one would you go to?

Bruce Springsteen or Garth Brooks.

3.) What is one interesting fact about you? 

I was a second degree black belt in Taekwondo as a 3rd grader in Eagan, Minnesota but moved to Arizona for 4th grade and gave it up to play baseball year ’round.

4.) What personal goal motivated you to start CrossFit? 

CrossFit was recommended to me by a friend a few months ago and it has been an awesome physical challenge since my baseball career ended. Not to mention it’s a phenomenal way to meet new people.

5.) What does a day in your life look like outside of being an awesome Crossfitter?

Awake before dawn, and if I’m not working I’ll be doing something outdoors… golfing, hunting, fishing, running, hiking, etc. or I’ll be inside setting my fantasy sports lineup.

6.) What is one skill you would like to master in the next month? 

Stringing toes to bar together. They are my Achilles heel!

Leslie Wirsing

3.) What personal goal motivated you to start CrossFit? 

I met a CrossFit coach a multi training sport facility. I was at the lowest point in my life and he empowered me. When I could no longer get to classes with him, I wanted to find a community with the same support and encouragement.

4.) What does a day in your life look like outside of being an awesome Crossfitter?

Typically a 9-10 hour work day. My route was 12 miles long, but I started a new one on Saturday that is a 1/3 of the walking. I’m very diligent with intermittent fasting and keto.

5.) Would you rather have the ability to be invisible for a day or read minds for a day? 

Invisible. It’s not my business what other people think.

6.) What is one skill you would like to master in the next month?

Vanessa Serratore

1.) Tell us about your profession? If you are a student, what are you studying and where are you studying?

I am a small animal surgeon (dogs/cats). I completed my residency in OH 6 months ago and moved to AZ to start a new job.

2.) You can go to any concert of any artist (dead or alive) which one would you go to?

3.) What is one interesting fact about you? 

I am an undercover adrenaline junkie. Sky diving, bungee jumping, cage diving with sharks…I’m in!

4.) What personal goal motivated you to start CrossFit? 

The desire to regain the fitness that I lost and learn something new.

4.) What does a day in your life look like outside of being an awesome Crossfitter?

Long unpredictable work hours or hiking and wine with friends.

5.) Would you rather have the ability to be invisible for a day or read minds for a day? 

Be invisible because there are some thoughts better left unknown.

Larry Leal

1.) Tell us about your profession? If you are a student, what are you studying and where are you studying?

I am a Health Education Coordinator for Health Choice Arizona, I just completed my MPH about 6 months ago

2.) You can go to any concert of any artist (dead or alive) which one would you go to?

3.) What personal goal motivated you to start CrossFit? 

I have always been very competitive as I played soccer all my life and in college as well. I always worked out at a regular gym and when I saw crossfit on t.v. I new I had to get involved with it.

4.) What does a day in your life look like outside of being an awesome Crossfitter?

After crossfit I go to the office then myself and my co-worker head to one of the schools that we provide after-school health and wellness programs at. I then usually head home and my wife and I cook dinner and relax. Weekends we like to try new restaurants and go for a hike.

5.) Would you rather have the ability to be invisible for a day or read minds for a day? 

I think reading minds would be a scary power so I would enjoy the ability to be invisible so I could doze of at work for a bit if needed.

6.) What is one skill you would like to master in the next month? 

Double-Unders, I seem to get them and lose them just as quickly.

I like to challenge myself to be better.

Deadlift…. Arghh!

6.) What does a day in your life look like outside of being an awesome Crossfitter?

Work, cook, relax, and be with family and friends.

7.) Would you rather have the ability to be invisible for a day or read minds for a day? 

Neither.  It doesn’t bother me if people see me or not.  Too much information to know what people are thinking…

I am legally blind in my right eye

Doing the crossfit open as prescribed/knowing I wasn’t reaching my fitness potential through other methods.

I want to be stronger for the ski season. It has been getting harder and harder to keep up with my teenage boys and i miss skiing with them.

Taking care of my house and family and walking the dogs!

Reading minds is tempting, but I think I’d pick being invisible. I love watching people and it would be nice if they couldn’t see me!
